Its better to transcode to DVCPRO HD than to HDV (for editing)? Or it doesnt matter?

Yes, it does matter.

Just compare the color space and compression factors for each.

I thought AVCHD has similar color space to HDV...

If it's ending up on DVD or vimeo I think the loss in your editing codec isn't going to make any difference.
