Replacement Lens Hood.

Hi.

i am considering buying a DVX however it is missing its lens hood.

i have to make my decision by tomorrow.

basically all i need to know is, has anyone successfully managed to get one?

if anyone has. i will buy the DVX and work out how to get a lens hood later


dont want to buy one and then be stuck with a DVX with out a lens cover.

i lost mine...and never replaced it...you can get them from Panasonic and if I remember the quoted me £150.
 
It should be fine without it, and f you decide to replace said lens hood, I would just go all out and get an entry level Mattebox.

150 pounds is steep.

got a link to an entry level mattbox there? how do they differ to a lens hood. i'm a little new to these type of things.
 
there's a retailer in London called Ask. They spoke to Panasonic for me. I would recommend getting an entry-level matte box too. Saying that I often use mine without the hood and never had a problem.
 
thanks guys. looks like i definatly have options then.

sorry to go slightly of track but whats generally the life of these cameras in regards to head hours.

is 260 a lot? will its stil have lots of life left?
 
I have heard that they will strongly want replacing at around 1000hrs, if they are cleaned properly every hundred hours or so.
 
well. i won my ebay bid. and should have my cam. hopefully it all turns out alright.

basically i really want a lens hood. but cant find one in england ( not prepard to pay 150 poounds compared to $50 ) so if anyone would be prepared to buy one from the panasonic site in US after i pay them and ship it to me i would greatly appreciated it.

i know its asking a lot. also if this is breaking any forum rules i am sorry and please delete post.

We could do a private auction in ebay to protect both parties. thanks
 
ok am having a nightmare.

have now realized the DVX is NTSC, being in england i presumed it would be pal.

however the seller says as it shoots in 24P this is irrelevant.

this kind of makes sense in my head as 24 frames per second is near pal frame rates.

however i have never read anything ( and i think i have read a lot) that confirms that because of 24p ntsc and pal mean nothing.

sorry to be cluttering my own thread but dont want to start loads of them.

Edit: have now pulled out of the deal. real shame as i was so hapy to be finally gettign a DVX. thanks for everyones help.
