OTHER: Repairing Sony RSV file

Can anyone recommend a good app or website for repairing a Sony RSV file from an A7SIII?

My camera had an uncontrolled shutdown last weekend and did not finish writing the last file so I am left with a .RSV

I would prefer to find an app I can purchase rather than license, and rather than a website which charges per clip.

Or better yet, if anyone knows how to repair the header and footer myself in textedit!

Thanks,
Abe

Advice for the future. If something is really important it's best to record the backup to a device that's independent from the camera like an Atomos. If there's any glitch to the camera it will effect both cards equally. Dual cards are fine for a card failure but not a camera/power failure.

I would either bite the bullet and pay what's needed or re-shoot if possible, or take the L.

17 years of shooting almost every day with Sony tapeless cameras and I have never experienced so much as a single dropped frame from any of them, so I have no experience with recovery. But you might take a look at this.

Yeah but that same extremely important situation might call for not having a recorder rigged to the camera.

You can never trust a mirrorless camera in the same way you can trust a cinema camera or ENG camera that are purposely built for video.

Ironically I had a power failure today and might need to go to my Atomos if I can't recover the interrupted recording. The power supply cable must have an issue. When I plug it in at the beginning of the day I didn't notice that it wasn't delivering power to the camera and it was instead running off the battery. Halfway through the day the camera shut off in the middle of recording.

I don't use external recorders. Never. I don't want the bulk or the hassle, plus it's just adds a bunch more potential points of failure to worry about.

A cool thing about my FX6 is that I can record 4K on both internal cards simultaneously. And although I power my camera from V-mount batteries, I have the option of keeping a regular BPU battery attached at the same time, so in the unlikely event of a power loss (has never happened to any of my cameras) the BPU would automatically take over without missing a beat.

Just a couple of the advantages of shooting video with a real video camera.

Probably not what you need to hear, Abe. But it does sound like a reasonable cost solution.
