Rendering clips in the timeline

I have a Macbook Pro that I am using to edit my HVX footage with. I am dropping in some 30pn footage into the timeline and it says that I need to render the clips before I can view them on the canvas. My scratch drives are set to the desktop(7200 rpm one). I was wondering if there is an issue with my settings or is that just normal that you need to render first when dropping in any footage from the HVX? Thanks for any advice on this.
 
You have to go to your sequence settings and make sure the settings match the footage your bringing in. In your case, load the DVCPRO HD 720p30 setting.
 
The settings are matched to the footage but still no dice. Do you think that the native format has something to do with this? It does render the clips pretty quickly but i would rather not have this issue if I can help it. thanks again
 
I just got it. Had to start a new project and set the sequence settings off the get go. I must have had an older project going with settings that didn't match the footage. Started from scratch and it is working like a champ. whew...
