Remote Rec Help

Hello Peoples,
Any ideas how i'd go about recording remotely with the GH1?
The standard remote looks like it won't oblige in rec mode are there any other options available to me?

I still need a traditional remote to trigger record (for safety reasons) as i wont have hands/digits available to play with the iphone while flying (low)

Will any third party remotes work?

Will it involve cannabalizing!!
