Wow that was great. it was a compressor wheel of a high flow turbo. If a workshop can make such part, no doubt about precision of HF at all. those thing operate at 100000 RPM. a slight thrust load could throw it into hundred of piecess
Awesome Machine Shop Pete, good to know the gear is going to be solid, any updates on a shipping date/price im on the edge of my seat .........and fell off
It's really coming together Peter congratz on pulling it off.
One little thing though: I prefered that little handle you had on earlier prototypes. That looked easier to (un)screw than this little knob now present on this last model.
(And knowing you work with Wayne, that's the only thing I never liked about the SGPro rev3:the knob for tightening it to the rails. Too much fiddling. )
I don't really do a lot with Wayne, we bounced a few ideas around. The good thing about this new clamp is it only takes a quarter turn to clamp solid. Only finger tight, no need for any real effort. In fact we managed to lock it solid just turning a normal bolt head with our fingers.
Heres a photo of the first machining of the new clamp. The reason it clamps so well is the accuracy, its so well fitted to the rod, it clamps with no effort whatsoever. The big lever thing would have just got in the way, its not necessary on this version.
When I say solid, this clamp grips so tight you can rotate the rod around inside the grip of a zacuto clamp with no slipping on the HoFo mount.
Heres another drawing from the insturction manual. Quite proud of it so thought id show it off, took ages. :-D
Thanks for the clarification, that sounds 'tight' and also less 'fiddly' now that I see it in your hand.
I assumed you did a little more with Wayne because of the follow focus dial, my bad. The drawings for the manual look clean and sharp, just like they should be.
