Remote follow focus for £150/$300

Wow that was great. it was a compressor wheel of a high flow turbo. If a workshop can make such part, no doubt about precision of HF at all. those thing operate at 100000 RPM. a slight thrust load could throw it into hundred of piecess

Actually, its an F1 wheel, machined from solid, but this machine shop make all parts, to 3 microns so a turbo compressor is no problem.

Yesterday they were making a rotating table that feeds easter eggs into a machine that wraps them in foil :-D

We made this yesterday, its a battery mount to go on the Steadicam Archer. Let me know if ou want to buy one.

Awesome Machine Shop Pete, good to know the gear is going to be solid, any updates on a shipping date/price im on the edge of my seat .........and fell off

Hi,

Things are happening regarding the distribution, but im not sure I should say what exactly on a public forum.

Lets just say the machine shop are pretty busy at the moment ;-)

TADAAA.

The slit in the clamp is a 1mm channel, cut out with a 0.2mm (think thats 10,000th of an inch) diameter brass wire. Neat.

It's really coming together Peter congratz on pulling it off.
One little thing though: I prefered that little handle you had on earlier prototypes. That looked easier to (un)screw than this little knob now present on this last model.

(And knowing you work with Wayne, that's the only thing I never liked about the SGPro rev3:the knob for tightening it to the rails. Too much fiddling. :) )

Hi Don,

I don't really do a lot with Wayne, we bounced a few ideas around. The good thing about this new clamp is it only takes a quarter turn to clamp solid. Only finger tight, no need for any real effort. In fact we managed to lock it solid just turning a normal bolt head with our fingers.

Heres a photo of the first machining of the new clamp. The reason it clamps so well is the accuracy, its so well fitted to the rod, it clamps with no effort whatsoever. The big lever thing would have just got in the way, its not necessary on this version.

When I say solid, this clamp grips so tight you can rotate the rod around inside the grip of a zacuto clamp with no slipping on the HoFo mount.

Heres another drawing from the insturction manual. Quite proud of it so thought id show it off, took ages. :-D

Pete.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the clarification, that sounds 'tight' ;) and also less 'fiddly' now that I see it in your hand.

I assumed you did a little more with Wayne because of the follow focus dial, my bad. The drawings for the manual look clean and sharp, just like they should be.

Keep up the good work,
DC

Yeah, its mainly the focus wheel that we bounced ideas around on. Really do want to thank Wayne for pointing me in the right direction with that one.

Pete.
