Remote doesn't work, but I barely used - could battery be dead?

I haven't hardly used my remote at all, maybe once 6 months ago. But I left that little battery inside. Is it possible that the battery died? It's just been sitting in the bag for 6 months or so, and now won't respond (YES, I set VCR1/VCR2 etc. - no response).

If it was in your bag, my guess is that something pushed the buttons on the remote and drained the battery.

and if you used the battery that came with it, who knows how old that is.

Any battery that has been inside a device that long needs to be replaced.
