AC160 regarding ATW on 160A-Barry please?

Hi,
probably a silly question but in ATW mode on a 160/A is there any way one should calibrate the auto setting? In your book you state that black balance should always be carried out when doing a manual white balance. (and why not-you only have to hold the button for 2 seconds longer!)

This set me thinking about how the ATW function worked. Does it carryt out a black balance automatically or is it a preset that cannot be changed?
Cheers!

There's no calibration for the white balance. Some of the smaller Panasonics will do an automatic black balance as part of the white balance process, but the 160 doesn't IIRC.

Thanks Barry, so it is a factory set unvariable preset. I must say I have found the the ATW remarkably good in normal use ( albeit a bit slow sometimes as mentioned in your 160 bible.)

I am now working through various scene settings following your reference stuff in the book. I have also followed your feedback on the 100 forum. Lots of scene trials going on there- what versatile cameras these two are!

Thanks for your ever present support here, much appreciated by us all.
Cheers!

Hi Zim,
yes he certainly does and I believe it comes with USA bought cameras from authorised dealers. This is a must must must have! The full versatility of the 160/130 is discussed in great detail and clarity here and you would struggle to maximise this camera's capabilities without it. No doubt Barry, or others will confirm the supply arrangement but I believe it is free too!

Cheers!
