This thread sucks.

Why so Iain? I think there has been some good discussion here on how to approach building your reel if you are interested in getting hired by production houses.

P.S-get rid of the hat. You look like a love scene stuntman from Brokeback Mountain.

I hate to pull a Simon Cowell on you but this is one of the worst reels I've ever seen here. Are you actually thinking a production company is going to pick you up? You need to get a grip and keep this up as a hobby. You lack the talent to make it in this business. A grade 11 media student could put something together better than this. If you would have walked into Partners Film Co. when I was there, this would have been thrown in the garbage where it belongs.
Take some advice from Liquidsn as well. Take out the pumpkin..not because it shouldn't be included in a directors reel..but because it sucks.

Here..I wrote this as well just in case you happened to miss it:

Did you bother to read any of the other posts? Why not comment on the positive things people have said to you and work on your reel some more. I'm not this Drew character that you speak of either.

P.S-I assume your grade 11 video work will actually look like grade 6 so don't bother posting it Okay no more abuse. Good luck.

I am still working my way through the depths of this one..

Just curious as to what prompted you to cut me to pieces in the first place (not that I mind too much.. everybody can say what they want) but any particular reason? Or you just actually hate the work I do...

not angry or anything.. just curious. (be back when I have finished reading.. this is good entertainment.. wheres my popcorn..)

Well allow me to defend myself and my so called demo reel.

1. I don't have enough work to put together a full reel. So this was mainly just something I did for fun. And yup, I cut the images to song I used.
2. I wasn't ever going to give this to a production house, Because that would be stupid. <-- well ****.. I did say that kind of, in response to your first reply in the first thread when you asked me my potential audience, but I also said this:

"The point of this montage is a little showcase of "action" scenes, movement etc. the 'meat' of my reel is selected scenes from my work(s). Think of this as more of an opener to the reel, since this is a showcase of my directing ability the heart of the reel is yet to come. I shall be plugging away on it."


3. This isn't finished, and this was just a set of clips to music, as more of an opener than anything else.
4. I have never made a directors reel. so ya.. it most likely sucks crap.
5. The second half of the reel, which I had mention'd in the original thread and post is not yet started.(ie: select scenes and clips from work I have done)


Angrius, may I see your demo reel so I can get a heads up on how one is actually made? Actually.. nevermind.. I don't want to drag this thread out any longer..

And Absolution is AMAZING FOO... I mean it even got rejected from Sundance... err.. wait a min... ok... scratch that last comment. :happy:

Still wouldn't mind knowing why you think I am a dick.. surly yes... sarcastic hell yes.. a dick.. not that I am aware of... you've never met me in person so you have no idea what kind of person I am actually like.

Once again I apologize for my rash behavior Loki. Chalk it up to lack of food. I was probably watching American Idol at the time and had way too many dillusional people dancing around in my head.

Just so you know I don't have a directors reel because I don't want to be a director. I was a production manager so I had to be very critical in regards to what I saw for the company when the producer and myself where reviewing reels that may or may not fit for the artist we were working with at the time.

I think if you have the desire to work in the industry you can do it. Email me if you need anything and I'll see what I can do to help.
