Reds and oranges too hot.

Hi All.

I'm two weeks into my DVX100A and am having problems with my reds and oranges being way too "hot" on just about every scene file. All settings are default except I have set my detail to -3 in F1. I white balance regularly as lighting conditions change.

Am I missing a setting change that somehow I missed reading about? Should I change the detail to -3 in all scene files that I use regular basis?

Any other settings info would be appreciated.

Many Thanks!

Dave

Re: Reds and oranges too hot.

Fact of life with this camera. You'll need to use color correction in post. I use Vegas 4 primary and secondary CC for this and also apply a broadcast safe filter on output.
Works fine. You can also drop the chroma in camera by -2 for a start.
Hope this helps.

Re: Reds and oranges too hot.

the cine-matrix setting is much to blame for this. if you use the regular matrix settng, it will tone it down alot, and not saturate everything so much. then you can add saturation in post if you feel like it which will saturate the actuall colors represented instead of matrixing them to a more "cine like" color and wont favor the reds so much. i howvere prefer to leave cinematrix on, and tone the reds down in post if i nee too. either way..

### NOTE I AM REFFERING TO "CINE MATRIX"..SAY IT WITH ME -M..A..T..R..I.X. AND NOT "CINE GAMMA" THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS### - thats just my pre-emptive (how american) response.

Re: Reds and oranges too hot.

I'm using detail at -4, chroma at -4, and master pedestal at -5 and am getting good results.
