Redrock micro cinema bundle with af100

Yes, we used it on "A Verse Before Dying". Ask Taylor Rudd and McgeeDigital as they were the primary focus pullers, and Timur used the Shoot35 as well. I know Taylor has a Redrock V2, so he could give you some comparisons after using both.

Thanks, Barry.

@danielc

that setup used 12" rods. It seems to be a comfortable size for the AF100 when mounting up the various accessories, but of course a lot depends on the lens length as well. That is our current v2 follow focus. V3 is very near!

cool thanks brian. i keep hoping it is near haha. i am holding out for it, hopefully my rig wont be without one for too long =].

I used the Redrock Mattebox Deluxe Bundle with the AF100 on "A Verse Before Dying" and it all fit perfectly and went well together. The rails were great, the height lined up, everything worked fine. The mattebox is really, really, really, really big (which, anyone who's ever seen one can testify to) but it fit right where it was supposed to and worked fine.

I know for a fact it will work with anamorphic lenses.... so the size is actually a flexibility bonus.

v3? What are the differences? I literally just bought a v2 2 weeks ago and can return it still to wait for the v3.

@Mike - It's a new design, top features are new custom designed gearbox, hard stops, new solid and repositionable focus indicator (the little arm that comes up over the 3D marking disk), thinner design to support smaller lenses, gearbox is easier to swap front-to-back, can be upgraded to the studio style ff (wheel on both sides), and glow-in-the-dark marking disk. The new v3 will be priced higher - estimated around $795.

I plan to configure the AF100 with the Redrock product line. Excellent quality and value IMHO. Having seen Barry's configuration, its nice to know that my Redrock stuff continues to be a good investment. Highly recommended!

Okay, may have to send everything back. What about reversing gear? I really don't like the current reversing gear. It's centered on the main gear whereas it should be positionable more towards the lens in case the lens is sitting lower. Otherwise you could get both gears hitting the lens or not the reverse gear at all. The reverse gear also moves side to side and makes noise. What is the ETA on it? Thanks!

sorry brian, what did i start haha.

steve, if you have no baseplate rig yet, redrocks micro support kit is great, just need the rods separate for the kit. brian mentioned the 12" long rods are adequate size, though could go longer if you want to maybe add support to the back such as a battery unit or recorder (via cheese plate accessory). http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/microSupport-Bundles/microSupport-baseplate-15mm-low-riser

if im not mistaken i think the new FF has a reverse option with it, if not im sure it will be a good design.

Thanks! That looks really good deal at half the price of the Zacuto. Looking forward to seeing the AF100 RedRock kits.

no problem steve, yeah ever since i shopped around years ago for an adapter kit i have come to love what redrock puts out. the quality and build for the price is un heard of for film components in its class. if you find a video on the new FF V3, honestly it looks better than arris of more than double the price (or similar compared FF of more money). i too am excited to put together a rig, weve already planned for a test shoot at school. early january if it comes =].

- also too steve, depending you may want a shim kit along with your order to depending on what you use. check to be sure.

...That video is from April and they said summer. We're waaaaay past summer....

I know, it sucks. I want to buy the FF V3, too.

Their company name is RED-rock, maybe that what's causing the delivery delay. Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

yes - way past summer, and we are now close. The next date we release will be a solid ship date, but not quite there yet on the specific date. It's not far off - just one last piece we are finalizing.

regarding the reversing gear, you have two options with the v2. You can rotate the gearbox to the back of the ff and order our reversed indicator arm. no additional reversing gear required. the V3 will have a much simpler and refined approach.

@kylekmd thanks for posting that. I was looking for a v3 review from NAB. The final version will have a few additional enhancements and refinements.

oh that's funny - never heard that one before :)
