Redrock M2 short..

I think the intention to go out and do something cheesey is good, to do a pastiche of that low budget sugary film sequence is a great idea but it was just a bit boring. You didn't push the idea far enough and as a consequence it lost it's impact and it's humour. It's all in the detail and it felt like you lost interest halfway through. But hey at least you went out and shot something.

stevesherric> I agree, it looks bad. We had forgotten the bounce card at the truck and time was running out, so I decided to shoot it without any fill what so ever. If one wishes to make stupid decisions, one should make them at home in privacy, not on set. ;) Anyway, It held up better than I thought it would.

bluespider> The guy's clearly got talent ;) Nice if you like the music. I'll tell the composer.

pipe> valid points indeed.

Since noone of you have commented on the _story_, I'm guessing the story got drenched in cheese and became non-existant. This was a funny experiment anyway :) There's a synopsis for the film over at the same page http://www.wbe.fi/?mid=8&aid=36. ;)

Also, I told the editor to apply a small bit of white diffusion from the magic bullet plugin pack to smoothen out some blemishes on the doctor's face. He added it to the entire film. This could very well be why some shots seem more soft than they are. (Nope, didn't have any diffusion with me on set)

I loved it! Must be a scandinavian thing.
The title couldn't be better.

By the way, I found your notes on the choice of music amusing:
"Vocals are by Paer Wistbacka, relying heavily on the use of autotune"
haha

Hi, the movie looks like a bit soft for me but the image is dreamy and has good light. The music is a bit extrage... but I have seen in this video a great experimentation... ah! and I hate the cheese.

lol, its PreTTY good. love the ending, its like "wtf' lol... I don't think its too soft, however .. u can add sharpen filter to it to see what it looks like. might help it out

Obviously it is suppossed to be cheesy. I thought it was rather funny. Although, I have to agree that the M2 seemed to do nothing for this particular short.
Bra humor har ingen dott av.

that was genius, easily the most disturbing experimental film I have ever laid eyes upon! well played and bravo, im going to sleep to have nightmares now. When my jaw wasn't hitting the floor i was laughing in disbelief, that has to be worth something.

Angrius> Ah, now we're getting somewhere. This is the kind of comment I've been waiting for :) The thing you're saying I should do is exactly what I'm trying to do, or doing. Do you have any hints as to what I did wrong and what I should have done instead? I only had a 4x4 with grid cloth and a white styrofoam reflector sheet to light with. Sometimes the 4x4 got left somewhere and sometimes both the reflector and the 4x4 got left somewhere and I had to shoot without any light control what so ever. What would you have done differently, except for the obvious things that I've noticed, such as fill coming from the wrong angle leaving dramatic non-romantic shadows on the actresse's face? I would also have added some kind of backlight in the woods to provide some separation... But we didn't have any lights nor power... :o

Cheers,

Klosse

Start here..

It's walters website..good lighting ideas going on here.

Buy lots of lights...blast them on your subjects until they start melting..then pull back. More light!

I'm not in the mood right now for this..I'll reply later. I feel a big dump coming on.
