Red Scarlet footage anyone?

Has there been any clips posted from the New Red Scarlett cam yet? I really hope this isn't all smoke and mirrors like in the past with theses guys. Please if any one has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Footage should be the same as the image from Epic 4K at 24fps. But that's what RED says. We won't know for sure until we have testing by owners who have both.

should be nearly identical to epic at 4k although won't be able to shoot as high of data rates.

I find it mildly disturbing that people will drop $10,000+ on a camera that has zero reviews or ample footage let alone testing/renting the equipment first.

I love the look of it and what it's potential is...but I have to agree. Zero evidence on it's quality other than the manufacturer's word. Not saying RED would be untruthful but I can't spend that much without some sort of evidence :)

Some might say... It's a fool who buys a car without taking it for a test drive first!

Just sold my car, the person didn't come and drive it, just cash in hand, see ya later. The person had trust in the car company, enough to be able to buy it just like that, it's the exact same principle here, the people who have bought a Scarlett have trust in RED and have acted so, its there choice, not everyone has the same personalities, were not all robots.............................................. yet.

IMO those car companies have decades of experience and thousands of happy customers as well, so the same principle doesn't apply here. how many years has been Red working for?

How many people here would buy a Canon 5d Mark III without testing it?

So you wouldn't even take the time to visit a reseller to test 5DmkIII for yourself or evaluate any footage before you dropped your hard earned cash? We waited until Red fixed the audio board issues and offered a stable build on their firmware before we got the Red one. If we were looking to purchase the Scarlet or any other camera for that matter, it would be after a careful evaluation including viewing footage from said camera. But hey, that just the ramblings of an old guy.

That's understandable, David. The Red ONE was their first ship out of the harbor, right? It was made by a guy that designed sunglasses. I can understand the hesitation and waiting on that one. But the 5D3 will be the third installment of THIS DSLR (which they have, what ... 6 completely different models being used by filmmakers everywhere). It wouldn't be as much of a gamble.

While it's not near the investment, I preordered the T2i and still use it to this day as my only camera. I didn't test drive it or anything. BUT I do understand that's not near the price point (though for someone who can't afford much, it might as well be).

I wouldn't buy a 5D MKIII without at least seeing some footage and reviews (which we know that's what Canon would do before shipping).

The Scarlet has been launched without any specific footage (which is what this thread's about) and just a note that it's the same as the epic.

Massively looking forward to seeing what people make of it.

Studying those early Scarlet buyers would make a good marketing project...... I imagine alot of them purchased Scarlet without ever touching an R1 or the RED workflow (with the exceptions of playing with a few .r3ds) and have been sold on specs that they think they need (4K, RAW).... Purchasing after years of waiting for a completely different camera, at a completely different price point.

I'm not knocking RED or the buyers... I just find it interesting.

Here's a happy volunteer...

I expect the Epic and Scarlet footage at Quad HD "4K" should intercut seamlessly, otherwise
they'll have a bunch of pissed off Epic owners who just bought a Scarlet to use for 3D or B-Cam...

I am going to try the Red Scarlet-X QuadHD "4K" and 1080 60p footage in Premiere Pro and compare to
a hacked Panasonic GH2 GOP1 at 1080p on the same timeline, same scene.

The GH2 stays no matter what, but ....

you know the rest....

The Scarlet is the Epic, the Epic is a High Resolution/Framerate Scarlet

The footage is interchangable at 4k... so go watch some EPIC shoots, and then buy a Scarlet...

Its as easy as that.
