Red Scarlet Announcement Info

Just doing my morning online banking routine and… I see that RED has charged the deposit for my order.

Although the amount they charged doesn't seem to match anything on my order… So not really sure what's happening.

10% from your order total, 10% from your order total minus shipping/taxes/both, 10% from the products that are not in back order, 10% from the products that are not in back order minus shipping/taxes/both...?

That's mine there in the foreground!

The ugly grey one??
I wasn't aware of that 'battleship grey' until today...it reminds me of the inside of PC's in the 90's. Maybe they saved on paint to lower Scarlet's price. It definately looks unfinished.
No pun intended, I ordered one myself, but I doubt that I'll fall in love with that look.

I knew it was going to be grey - I guess to instantly distinguish it from it's big brother? Wouldn't want it to be confused with a $40k camera now would we… It may bother me as well for a short while, especially since all the accessories will be in EPIC black, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

Why does Scarlet look crappy in grey but Alexa looks cool in grey :/ both have black accesories too...

edit: Scarlet would look good in grey too if the side handle and SSD module would be grey too... or not. Maybe it's just that box desing that doesn' look good in anything else than black.

Why not just paint these things a deep metallic "scarlet" red. It seems like an obvious choice. Then the black components would look sweet on them as well and they still would not be confused with Epic.

That would be far better than the current 'design'. My guess is that Epics have 'Battleship Grey' as primer under the black, they probably wanted to save time on Scarlet production and skipped painting ;)
C'mon, GREY for a cinema camera named 'Scarlet'?

Aluminium is anodized not painted and there is no such a thing as primers :)

Reminds me of an NES controller! Grey, black and big RED buttons!!! LOVE IT!!! :2vrolijk_08:

Remember that you have to do black shade calibration a lot (when changing frame rates, when temperature changes enough, when lighting changes enough etc) to avoid excessive noise and you have to do the calibration after the camera has warmed up. So keep that in mind when thinking if these cameras work with your shooting style. They are not like DSLR's that you can just take out from your bag, turn on and start shooting and get the best image possible.
