Recording straight to FCP

So...I can't find any clear help with this question. What are the exact steps to recording to FCP? I have a dual core G5, a terabyte of storage, 6 gig of ram----I've tried a couple of different things but can't seem to get it to work...

Match cam settings with FCP sequence settings. Won't work with pNative modes.

Log and capture and use non controllable device.
