Recording speeds

Question on frame rates...

I see a lot of discussion about using 60P so that you can do good slow motion. My question is as DVD and Blu-ray - TV etc. all run at ~30FPS wouldn't recording in 60P already need to be slowed down?

Blu Ray does support 720p60 but DVD does not so you have to make it 30fps. You do not slow it down though you are basically removing every other frame... Below is a tutorial on taking HD to SD. It is for Premiere. If you are not using Premiere you may still get some good info out of it. He covers several different HD sizes and frame rates...

In Vegas, to turn 60p into slowmo, set project to 720p24, set event's frame rate to 40% and stretch your event to its new length showing every frame that was recorded.

For full speed to DVD@30fps, AFAIK every other frame will be dropped.

Thanks, using Vegas Pro but will look it over...

Thanks, how much does that degrade the quality? (the every other frame being droppped?)

And how could you combine the two? Slo-Mo and 30fps?
