recording sound from the HPX500 to the 7d

So,

can i just send a cable from the headphone out of my hpx500 to the 7d for sound? i know the agc will mess it up, but it would help with syncing right?

Haven't tried it but it would probably work, to put a "scratch track" on the 7D that could be used for sync'ing.

What are you trying to do -- use a 7D for images, and an HPX500 as an audio recorder? Or are you shooting two-cam and want to sync up the images in post, or ?

2 cam. 500 for A cam, 7d for rarely used kitschy shallow DOF / off axis b cam. Also using the 7d for regular MOS b-roll.
