Recording in HDV, sending a signal out in SDI?

Is it possible to record to tape in the HDV format but output a downconverted SDI signal?

Yes, just set the camera's output standard to SD with downconversion on and it will output anamorphic SD via SDI.

You can send HDSDI uncompressed to an HDCAM deck and record at 24 Frames at 4:2:2. I've done a shootout with a Canon XL H1 and Mini 35 against a Sony F900 and Pro 35 and they are quite close.
