Record DVCProHD straight to HD?

I am cheep and dont want to purchase HD Monitor to record in HD.

Could someone please tell me the steps to record straight to
Quicktime Pro?

I can do it in DV, but.....

Do I need a P2 card inserted?

You cannot record DVCProHD straight to QuickTime Pro. Assuming you have installed FCP, you will need either:

FCP
HD Monitor
Scopebox

But you do need th DVCProHD codecs installed by FCP.

Whether you are cheep or cheap, you do need this set up.

So, I lauuch FCP 5.1.4 and have that driver installled.


Can I go into P2 mode without a P2 card?
And then "Capture Now" ?

I was thinking about doing that for the Full Lunar Eclipse last nite...

But did-nt as I had to feed the cats

And the image of the moon and not the moon was not very bright.
Next time I'll set up some lights to shine out there

Yes you can do that. Use FCP's "Log & Capture" function to do live high-def streaming capture from the HVX using the firewire connection.
