Newbie here...

A client of ours recently hired us to follow and document the Amgen Tour of California bike race. It was really cool, they gave me full media credentials and the works. After weeks of research and learning from all of you guys and gals I went with the HVX200 and the FS-100 as my equipment for the job. It was a great experience and I love the camera!

Upon my return, and with only 2 days notice, I was informed that I will be going up in a helicopter for another client to record arial footage of bloom time (California peach, plum and nectarine orchards) sitting in a Tyler Camera Mount system with the HVX.

Well, I've never been up in a helicopter before. I need the extended shooting time v3.0 offers in the FS-100. Do you guys think 720/30p at P2 PN is a wise recording format to use for this type of job? The end result will be a DVD?

...do you mean 1080i/30p? I'm using the FS-100 ...not P2 cards.

Also, (total noob question here) can anyone explain the difference between VIDEO CAM v. FILM CAM under the OPERATION TYPE in the SCENE FILE menu on the HVX?

...one more thing...I'm editing in FCP, what DV format do you recommend? ...Quicktime, Quicktime PN or P2?

That must be the "Blossom Trail" here in Fresno, CA. A beautiful sight to behold and the blossoms are really coming in strong.
Wave as you fly over.

I think the reason esperman asked about how many cards was because with the firestore you are more likely to have problems with the cable and slight chance of vibration problems with the drive.
Tape that cable down for sure.

Let me know how the Tyler camera mount works with the HVX. I'd love to see some stills of it.
Good luck.
P.S. Where are you located?

There is a guy here who did some beautiful shots from a helicopter with an FS-100 and said it performed flawlessly. I'll have to try to remember who that was and direct him here.
