Recomendation for Attaching a Monitor

I'm about to pick up an external LCD monitor (the Small HD) to attach to my 7D. I've got a tripod and rails, but I don't exactly know how I should be attaching the monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Much thanks in advance!

Although I have yet to try out this attachment since it hasn't arrived yet, I too have a smallHD on order and a rod system. I purchased the RedRockMicro Micro Mount which is a rod clamp on one end and a male and a female 1/4 inch thread on the other end. I then purchased a redRockMicro arm to attach to that which gives me some flexibility. Like I said, I haven't tried this setup out yet, since it hasn't arrived yet, but I don't see why it would work.

Hm mine doesn't work really - not entirely sure why either - the micromount goes on the rod, the arm goes into micromount and monitor, but the micromount doesn't screw on tightly enough it seems and my monitor falls to the side. It might have to do with my rails (from Cine City - which is weird, because my FF works fine on it and when I put a 15mm mattebox on it works fine) or it could be defective micromounts.

Either way, I just mount the damn thing on the hot shoe and forget about it,

Hmm thats odd, I've got the Micromount with a Marshall and Panny battery attached to a noga and than to a micromount and it works great. It's on redrock rails though, maybe try it in a different spot on the rails? some rails can be manufactured unevenly. I'd try them on RR rails, and if it still wont hold (and it should hold stronger than any arms, i mean my microMount can't be moved at all when tightened down), tell redrock and they should replace it for you, but they will probably ask you to try it on another set of rods.

Thanks a lot - I've been considering buying a better setup for anyway, however I can't wait for the long lead times of RR. I live in Canada and getting anything out here from RR seems to take forever. The micromounts I was able to purchase off another DVXuser and I'd really like to use them.

I might purchase the CPM cage as I hear good things about their carbon fibre rods, however if I get the cage I'll have to rethink how I mount the monitor.

Bah, decisions.

I've got the zacuto arm. Although I found it hard to spend the £230 on it at the time (2 years ago), I don't regret it one bit. I'm using a Marshall with v batterry and it works great. Very easy to customise on the fly. I can't imagine I'd ever use anything else.
