Newest video shot with only a T2i and a 50mm 1.8

Looks great, minus the Matte Widescreen. IMO this Music Video does not call for it and since you are already shooting up tight with the 50mm it just gives it even more of an up tight feel that is not good. Also the shot of her on the bench looks SUPER weird almost looks like she is in a wheel chair, I do not like that shot at all. THe second verse is nice though and how she is wearing a nice yellow shirt which brings great contrast. Third verse is great as well as she switched up again.

Excellent framing and great footage you captured there.

So the only thing I do not like is the Widescreen Bars and the shot of her on the bench, other than that great video!

Overall great job. The widescreen didn't bother me, but I do get what Cieloent is talking about.

Also, she is a very talented rapper, much better than most amateurs. I hope she has a good career ahead of her.

Thanks. As far as the widescreen goes I put it on everything. I really cant imagine a video without it. I guess its personal taste.

Yeah I feel you about the widescreen thing. I'm that way too, it's rare that I don't crop to 2.35 or 2.40. Something in the back of my brain says "movie magic" when I do that :) I'm sure it annoys a few people but oh well...
She's really good though, like the song a lot. As far as the video, I like the setups on the 2nd verse more than the 1st. And also wish there was just a weeee bit more contrast. I think that would fool the viewer into percieving more detail and a higher, more cinematic production value.

Thanks Rakesh! I wish I could add more contrast but my waveform monitor wouldnt allow me to go in either direction. I was topped out at 100 on each clip and bottmed out at 0 on my black levels

What 50mm 1.8 did you use? If you used the canon one I am impressed. The footage seems to be pretty sharp for that lens, so that I give you props for working with what you have and still making it look good!

The 50mm is a sharp lens, maybe one of the sharpest lenses ever created...... So I do not understand your post.

As for the op I must mention again that the artist was very talented and that alone is more important than any camera we use. Is there any info on the artist, would really like to hear some more from her

ps. You have excellent footage by the way, my critiques were just opinions on certain things I did not like but 90% of that video to me was great! 8 out of 10

@CameronMcC I cropped it to 1280X720

@Spenser S Yes I used the $100 canon one. I think the fact that i use very high shutter speeds when im outdoors makes the image a little bit sharper. Most people dont like going over 50 or 60 but I dont have a problem with it and kinda like that im breaking the rules and it works lol

@Cieloent http://www.myspace.com/LockStarrMusic and i definitely appreciate your comments. I love taking critiques and instilling them in my future projects.

Dude the Canon 50mm f1.8 II is a badass lens, it's the best $100 you can spend on camera gear. And yes it's sharp. I've read user reviews of people comparing it to the f1.4 and even the f1.2 and they claim it's sharper wide open... so there's that :)

Well I guess I wasnt aware that is was that sharp. Thanks for the info guys. I just assumed for that price it wouldnt make sense. The housing is super cheap and the focus ring is terrible, so I guess I just forget about the good glass. Either way I really liked it. :)

What does the focus ring, and build quality of the housing have to do with image quality?
Also you clearly posted a thread a while back that you own this very lens, so how is it that you have this very same lens in your possession and do not know how razor sharp it is?

Word to the wise, expensive lenses or least expensive ones do not necessarily mean quality.

Apologies to the op for going off topic but I was truly baffled by this poster and had to clear some things up.
