Rebate Promotion Extended...and EXPANDED!?

Thank you Rush. That was very helpful. I do have a question regarding the wire transfer. What is the difference if you pay on your credit card or send a certified check or money order for the exact amount. EVS still gets the money pretty much instantly...right? What is the purpose and reasoning behind the discount for wire transfer?

Or would I still get the discount if i paid by money order? Just curious.

that last rebate was just great timing!! ...ordered mine from B&H Photo on Friday and it was delivered on Monday...no hassles!! ...now I just found out a 2nd battery and extra tapes are included on the rebate!!

I read the posts before buying about grey market.....my best advice...keep saving and buy from a dealer recomended from Panasonic. Simple. ...if they are not listed off Panasonic's site then you shouldn't buy it, you most likely won't get what you thought you were.

Another thing...I noticed some of these sites would call the camera a DVX100a when it showed a pic of the DVX100. Other times they would name it slightly different....like the DVX100AE or something similar to confuse people.

Last tip....make sure the place has a physical address for the store.

I was very happy with B&H Photo...and from the things I've read I would buy from EVS.....bottom line, you get what you pay for.

credit card companies take a small percentage of the transaction.
That is correct, between 2-3%, so a wire transfer bypasses the CC company, and we pass on the savings.

So what's the difference if I just send you a certified Check or Money order? You'd still get the full price. ???

To answer a question asked a couple of times and not addressed yet...

The difference in the new AMQ tape stock (per Steve Golub, Product Manager):
"The new series, with it's new surface treatment process, will reduce head clogging while keeping output high and error rate low."

Panasonic does not have anything up on their website yet with all of the specs, but either way FREE is a great deal, especially when you add in a 5400 mA battery and the $300. To quote more than one person on here "...Jan rocks..."

Those are fine too, they just have a long holding period. The banks are trying to bring that down to a few days, but to this date, it still takes 5 business days for the cashier's check or personal check to clear. So mailing the check takes 3 days, then 5 days to clear.... Wire is simply faster that's all, with a 24 hr. turnaround. But we take checks all the time, no problem

DVX100AE is the PAL model of the 100A (that's the one I have)
If it is the actual model and not just an attempt to confuse then it should not be too cheap, I don't think Panasonic USA even sells pal cameras
(I never had a chance of getting any of these deals but at least I got the 5400 battery with the camera)

I'd just like to clarify - I'm ready to order a 100A, probably from B&H, and they only mention the $300 on their website. Will I be able to get all the other goodies? From B&H? Or do I have to file for the rebate later?

Thanks!

I wasn't aware that was an actual model.....just still be aware of grey market. At first I was tempted by a great price by Digital Liquidators and bought through their website at a price of $1800 only to have to call them back to confirm ...once they realized I wasn't purchasing any of their overpriced "extras" they said it was out of stock.

I learned my lesson, saved a bit more and went to B&H Photo....no Bull dooky and I had the camera in my hands 3 days later.

I response to another post...I received the DVX book and DVD inside it, Magic Bullet Software, all the other standard items and no headaches! ...If you read Panasonic's website...they say the battery and extras tapes take a few weeks ...consider them a delayed bonus...

Here's something I don't get. I went to dbuys.com which listed the dvx100a for a great price. They also claimed it had a US warranty, but they said the camcorder was not available for the rebate. I have bought from them before and the stuff came brand new with a US warranty. How is it that a product with a US warranty is not available for rebate? Also, does Panasonic have a place we can look up authorized online dealers instead of by location?

I ordered my DVX100A package from B&H last night - should be here on Friday. We'll see if they include everything, or not.

Okay, so you bought off of the NEW camera site. The only thing that could come up missing upon delivery is Barry's book. If that is missing, contact me by PM, we will deal with it, you will get the book/DVD. Once you pass the rebate website, your check clearance would be the qualifier for the battery and tape, which is exactly how that whole deal is processed.

Hope that is clear,

Jan

Hi all -- just wanted to post a follow up to my little saga.

First, to their credit, Abes Of Maine accepted my return and promptly refunded the full charge, including shipping. Still, it was QUITE a hassle to actually get them to do that -- multiple phone calls and arguing.

Second, I ended up buying from Rush at EVS and just want to add myself to the long list of very satisfied customers. The service was outstanding -- Rush was always available, responding quickly to all of my calls and e-mails. He helped me put together a nice package for a great price, but it was the service that counted most. I felt very comfortable asking for advice without ever having to worry about being "upsold" or pushed to buy accessories. For example, at one point he realized one of the products I wanted was out of stock, and he recommended a comparable alternative. When I explained my specific needs and asked which product would be better for me, he recommended the one that they were out of and suggested I pick it up from B&H instead! Everything just arrived here on Wed. just as described, and I am as excited as can be! I can't recommend EVS enough for those who are still shopping around.

Finally, for anyone like me who is new to the camera or to the whole world of digital video, you must be sure to get a copy of Barry's book! If buying new, the book is yet another reason to avoid grey market products; if buying used be sure to pick up the book here. The Panasonic manual is definitely inadequate. The book fills in all the gaps, and goes far beyond a simple description of settings by providing lots of great explanation about the underlying concepts (e.g. interlacing, frame rates, pull-down, wide screen formatting, etc.)

Thanks to all of you who are making it easier for novices like me to get involved! My day job has been so much more tolerable lately... :)

Update - got 2/3 of my shipment from B&H. The camera came, and in the box were both the book and the software CD. I've got one more box coming (with my tripod)...perhaps the tape and battery will be in there?

The Tapes and the Battery will come after you fill out and get the rebate. The process works as following. You qualify for the rebate. The rebate folks send the names and addresses of all the folks that qualified for the rebate back to Panasonic. Panasonic then enters the orders into the shippping system and the batteries and tapes are then shipped.

Hope that helps,

Jan
