Greetings All,
I'm new to posting here but I've been following the discussions for quite some time. I have been on the verge of purchasing a DVX100A for almost as long, but it wasn't until the recent promotion with the generous rebate and Barry's book that I was able to justify the expense at my meager budget.

At the very end of the offer, April 30th, I was able to place an order for one that will be shipping soon. Then, today, I saw this ad in the June DV magazine that caught me a bit off guard. After some calling around, none of my regular local (NYC) dealers knew what I was referring to. And the web address listed in the ad only included information on the promotion that was to end in April.

My bad link...I need help with posting images!

Sounds like the "Serious" package but there is no mention of the camera bag...anyway, did that offer give you "Over $1000 in free benefits"? Is this simply a gross misprint? Someone's sadistic little game for all the last minute buyers who ran out to the stores on Friday? Or could this really be the NEXT PROMOTION! (And forgive me if I totally missed this already discussed in another thread...I looked all around and saw nothing.)

*Ms. Critttenden-I've never met you but I have the highest regard for your postings and dedication-You rock like no other in my book-But perhaps you can provide insight on this?

that was probably an earlier promotion. I know that Panasonic has extended their promotion which includes the book and the magic bullet and the rebate. it would be pretty awesome if they through in 10 tapes and a big battery.

Umm, hold the phone. No, you're right..
Looks like they're giving away a 5400mAh battery and 10 free tapes May1 - July31, 2005.

rgdfilms totally lucked out on his buy from EVSOnline yesterday!!! That was May 2nd!!

Hi,

First you make me sound like my mother by calling me Ms. Crittenden, Jan will do. ;-)

No this is not some awful plot and saddistic rumor. We will be upping the ante on the DVX100A. We think we have found the breaking point on the gray market product.

The only snag will be a little slow delivery on the battery and tapes. Your dealer will deliver the camera with the Magic Bullet and the DVX Book/DVD, then you do the rebate and the battery and tapes will follow from there. There is not room in the box for the battery and tape without them rolling around on top of the camera and I just can't bring myself to do that so, it will be a little of the delayed gratification for the battery and tapes. The tapes are of a new version, sort of a Super MQ formulation.

The dealers are not involved with the tape and battery promotion, it is strictly a Panasonic US promotion, given to only US product just like the Rebate. Please make sure you are purchasing US product, it has in the box the Magic Bullet and the DVX Book. Make that the condition of sale, it seems there are a lot of vendors that will say anything to get your money. They will try to say that Panasonic will send those to you later, this is not true.

Anyhow I hope this helps,

Jan

Jan,

So the tapes are a new version of the MQ (Master Quality)? Do you know what is better about them? Are they less likely to have dropouts or clog up the heads or anything like that? Just curious. Hope the new MQ tapes are just as good or better than the current ones. Thanx,

Now isn't it funny. Every time I buy something they come out with something new the next day. Just got another camera on Friday (actually the camera is somewhere between here and Memphis). So I guess it's two days. Since Sunday was the first.

Boo, hoo, boo hoo...

Anyway Rush you can change my order date, ha, ha...

Ah, I just rememberd. Being the impatience guy that I am. I emailed my rebate to Panny on Friday night so now that won't work.

Hey Jan, Panny hasn't sent out my rebate yet...can you please throw in those tapes and the battery????

That has got to *infuriate* the gray-marketers. They make all their money by extorting outrageous prices on accessories, so here Panasonic is giving the best, most-needed accessories away for free. Very crafty!

Battery/tape question

Battery/tape question

Jan said that the extended goodies are only valid from May 1st. Does this refer to the date of purchase, or the date you submit your rebate form online?

Jan
If
I buy a newDVX100a today from an authorized dealer today, will i get the goodies..I called Band H photo in NY City and they say the rebate is expired and know NOTHING about battery or tapes at all.
thanks!

If only I had a crystal ball then I would have waited till Monday. instead of Friday the 29th.

Actually if Panasonic wants to send the extra goodies I won't stop them.

Actually I'm more pissed with Fed Ex. See the thread I started today.

Haha, I will buy Barry and Rush a beer! I remember when Panasonic released the 24p a few years ago and I wasn't too impressed. I wasn't impressed because I was so tethered to Canon and was just ignorant. I swore by Canon and their product and never wanted to go sony, jvc, etc. Ive been slowly learning however that Canon, although maker of fine lenses is nowhere near the par of customer service and support I've been seeing from Panasonic. I feel like I'm joining a secret club. Panasonic seems to really care not only about their product but about the end user as well. Not that Panasonic isn't here to make money like the next guy, I just think they pay a little more attention to the customer rather than the currency. the rebate thing is proof that they are watching out for us from all those shades in nyc..
