Date of purchase even if the authorized dealer does not know anything about it? where do I get the rebate coupon if my dealer doesnt have them to give me with my purchase?
thanks

The Authorized dealer should have a copy of the rebate form that they can share with you. Who is your dealer?

The tape and battery will be coming from our stock, but only to authorized folks that qualify for the rebate. The list for product is generated by rebate claim folks.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Thanks Jan
B and H photo in New York..they ARE authorized panasonic dealer according to your previous posts on this forum
they know NOTHING about a rebate..just talked to them again

Date of purchase.
What if I placed an order online on Friday, April 29th but I got a call from the dealer on Monday, May 2nd asking for more identification since I had placed a pretty hefty order? After further verification from my CC company they charged my card and processed the order today, May 3rd. Would I maybe then be eligible for the new deal??? Pretty please???

Fuboy,
just a thought: indicating today as the date of purchase on the receipt sounds like the type of thing that should happen automatically, but probably requires due diligence (i.e. a phone call to the vendor) so that it doesn't slip through the cracks.

Jan,

I just ordered a DVX from US1Camera... they assured me that they are an authorized dealer and that the unit comes with all retail accesories. They also assured me that they are not a grey market dealer. I just called them back to check on all of this rebate stuff and they deny everything except the $300 rebate. No magic bullet, no book, no DVD, no extra battery, and no tapes. I'm getting really frustrated here Jan, what do I need to do?

If they said they were authorized dealers, they lied to you. They're not an authorized dealer. Jan will not be able to help you, you're dealing with a gray marketer.

Cancel the order, as soon as possible.

Their site certainly looks convincing, but lack of DVX book and MB is a tipoff. Can you find them listed as an authorized dealer on the Panny website? I couldn't. If I were you I would cancel the order.

I sure wish Panasonic had an alpha lookup of authorized dealers, since we don't shop by zip code anymore.

They are not on the Panasonic website, they're not authorized dealers, and if they told you they were, that makes them liars. You would do well to cancel the order.

Barry,

Thanks for the quick responce. Here's my problem: I just checked and my order shipped this afternoon. I'm going to call the company in the morning and see if I can't get this thing straightened out.

P.S.: Can they legally get away with telling me all is legit and that they're not grey market? Do I have any kind of legal options if they try to screw me?

I'd just like to have the alleged *$1,000* dollars worth of stuff left off and make the Price $2,449. I want to use the Firestore with it anyway so I wouldn't need the tapes. Maybe once the promotion is over we could have a small pricedrop on the base price. No rebate needed.

I wish you the best of luck. Here's some not-light reading about the way they operate:
http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2898.html

You may need to enlist the help of your credit card company (by disputing charges) and/or the NY attorney general, before all is said and done. Just remember that if all you have said is true, you have evidence of fraud on their part -- they assured you they are a Panasonic authorized dealer, and they are not. That would amount to misrepresentation and perhaps strengthen your case.

Again, good luck.

Thanks Barry. Those are some pretty mixed reviews. Just frustrated because I thought I covered all of the bases and asked the right questions. We'll have to see how this plays out. I'll keep you guys posted.

Not trying to rub it in, just recap. You saved $200 (assuming you do NOT get the rebate). But you do not have the dvx book, Magic Bullet, extra battery, 10 tapes, or probably a US warranty. Not a very good deal.

Since item has not been delivered, call vendor telling them you will refuse deleivery and want an immediate credit. Don't argue with them just tell them. Then call your credit card company and institute a chargeback for fraud. Tell them you have not yet received camera, have already talked to seller, and will refuse delivery. Then send email to vendor telling them the same thing. Then call UPS and also send them an email telling them the same thing (with a tracking number if you have one). Ask them to NOT leave it without a signature no matter what. If company gives you any crap at all, call NY AG office immediately and get them involved. A bit of a nuisance but you can stil unravel this. Good Luck.

Umm, hold the phone. No, you're right..
Looks like they're giving away a 5400mAh battery and 10 free tapes May1 - July31, 2005.

rgdfilms totally lucked out on his buy from EVSOnline yesterday!!! That was May 2nd!!

I knew it! As soon as I buy the DVX100a something better will appear. I got mine around March 7 (thanks Rush) and the Pany HD is announced. (Too expensive anyway) and now this deal. Dad-rat-it! If you think I'm gonna buy another DVX you're crazy. OK I am considering it, but dang, a big battery and a bunch of tapes on top of the 'cake'?! I could really uset this icing, as I'm a starving video artist. (And broke again, too, now that I bought the DVX.) Plus I like in Iowa. A small town in Iowa. Is there no quarter? Early bird gets the worm, the foot draggers gets the battery and tapes. Does Panasonic know how long I foot dragged before I bought the DVX100a? How I almost bought a Sony VX2100 instead? Will my whinning get me anywhere? Oh well, I'll try to make a bunch of $ with my Pany and the 'old' rebate and just be happy.

Oh, why didn't I wait!!? (Oscar moment.)

At first glance, it isn't really clear what a "US Authorized Product" actually is.
It sort of sounds like, "only if you buy a camera in the United States; not abroad."
A first time camera buyer may not have any idea of a "grey market product"

Clearly Jan, you are making a strong continual effort to curb grey market DVX100 sales.. I'm just
not certain that level of conviction is infiltrating the minds of people buying these cameras. As
mentioned, some of these guys will tell you on the phone that "book+dvd are in the mail, etc"
and nail down accountability on Panasonic US. Maybe it would make sense to spell it out for
people in the promotions where they must buy their camera to get the special. I'm sure that
well-informed buyers already know about US and grey-market product, but what about newbies?
I think that a list of dealers, that is simple to find, and printed in every advertisement would
make a lot of sense. Call me crazy, but.. I think that:

"Extra's only included from dealers on this list www.domainname.com"

would catch my attention a little better than

"read more about the promotion here www.domainname.com"

To further elaborate, my feeling is all the special offers in the world won't keep someone
from buying a camera from a Brooklyn store if the store tells them they are a dealer,
and the extra's and rebate will be in the mail. People won't know the difference until
it's too late, and that's why I think it's important to spell it out the first time around.

Just my .02

Hope this helps put the bad guys in their graves,
Brian
