yah..the dvx's gotta go..they are definatly making room for the new line.....the dvx was and is still a workhorse...its an awesome tool for the indie world. Just at that price alone is worth getting it for even a B camera if u already have the HVX...

This is a little disappointing since I just bought in October when they renewed the $350 rebate and it said 'through March 31, 2007'...I figured there wouldn't be any major price changes til then.

I would be mad too. It's not like if you bought on the last day of a rebate period then the next day it goes up, but when you buy it at the start and its says the rebate is good till March but then in a month it goes up!

Maybe Jan can explain the sudden change.

Oh c'mon. You gotta be kidding. With the Canon A1 and Sony V1 long announced and eagerly awaited (and now A1 available), there was no chance whatsoever that Panasonic could have gone back up in price. Z-E-R-O. Especially that the A1 price was well known ($4K MSRP, with $3.5K street some places) for a way better camera. It was totally obvious that either one of two things would happen: severe price drop on the DVX100 or a new camera to compete with the A1/V1. This was quite clear back in September (and even earlier), as soon as the A1 was widely discussed (with pricing available). Anyone who was surprised by panny doing a bigger rebate, really wasn't paying attention at all, not even one little bit.

Frankly, I think Panny is lucky to be getting any sales of the DVX100 at this point, given what the A1 has to offer for not much more $.

I thought i October they would have went to a $500 rebate. But they guys point was he bought one with Panasonic saying the rebate is good till next year. A month later they increase it. The A1 sales must be taking a toll or they are trying to steer people back to the DVX100.

Maybe they should have just dropped the price.

Something else what will th e new $500 rebate do to the high price of used DVX100s?

I've been looking for a good deal on a used one, but I think they are way over priced.

Well unfortunately I did purchase this camera from B&H Video on November 29th with no idea the rebate was going up to $500!

I should probably return the outfit, then re-purchase it next week!

I would. B&H probably know it will happen. Maybe they will just knock off $150 instead of going through all the return crap, which you probably can return it for whatever reason right now. It is worth a try.

I think the DVX is going to be a great indie camera for a few more years, but I think the price needs to come down.

Good luck

Prices changes all the time. In technology, they usually go down. This all sounds a little like sour grapes.

If the DVX is the right camera for you and the price was reasonable and the camera delivers results, then why sweat it?

I agree with you, Joshua. If I was just now purchasing my camera, I would have lost more than $150. Too much of the story behind my documentary would have passed me by.

So if I buy a dvx100b from willoughBys (an authorized dealer) the rebate will be $500 ?. . .even though it's still listed on the site as a $350 rebate? (maybe they just havent gotten around to updating yet?)

Probably not, specially if the person you bought from already claimed the rebate for that camera. How much did you buy the camera for?
