Rebate Checks

Ordered camera 5/3
Registered for rebate 5/6
Check Printed 5/12 - According to www.panasonic.com

Just called today to see where it was. Tony said it "should" go out in a couple more weeks. WTF? So anyway, for those of you waiting for your rebate, the info about rebate status on the Panny site is pretty much useless, but calling/nagging them may help. After all, it has now been 6 weeks since I bought my camera!!! No sign of battery or tapes yet either...

Same here. Ordered 5/2, submitted rebate on 5/6, check issued on 5/12. Called them and they didn't know when the check would actually be mailed.

Here is another update. Lady in charge of rebates called me today. Evidently my battery and tapes will come 4-6 weeks AFTER I get my check. So that makes it 3 months or more to get the free battery and tapes. What is Panasonic thinking? This is almost worse than no battery at all. Jan, tell them to get their act together.

Got my check in the mail on Saturday - ordered on 5/16, registered on 5/20 online. Jan said that the tapes and battery could be another month away after I get the check.

I bought my dvx in early April and I didn't get my check until early May, which compared to most rebates, was quite fast... I have found that Panasonic is truly dedicated to their consumers, so I wouldn't stress too much, they'll all get there, I would imagine they're all playing with the new HD to get ready to provide customer service on it... and I didn't even get any batts or tapes! Should have waited another month... Good luck!

Just bought mine from an authorized dealer but am now having problems with the rebate. For a while now, when I click on the rebate weblink it just takes me to the "locate dealer" screen. But when I finally got in to the rebate page (after continuously hitting back then forward), it says my serial number is invalid. I emailed Jan and she says my serial number should work fine and suggested doing it by paper. However, now when I go back to the rebate page to try to find info on doing it by paper, it again just takes me to the locate dealer screen.

Is anyone else having trouble filling out the rebate form online?

well, at least it finally arrived! how long does it take to get the battery and tapes after that? anyone recd the battery and tapes yet?

thanks

How do you check the status of the rebate check? Is it online? Also, the Barry book/DVD is going to be shipped separetly, my box was shipped without it. I wonder how long that'll take too.

As far as the Barry book, if you did not get it in your package, you will be waiting until hell freezes over. And likely you will not get your rebate either.

Check not printed yet. If I don't get my Barry book I'm gonna scream! I'll probably have to buy it I supose, I can't wait 2 months for it.

Uh, Barry Green's DVX book was supposed to be in the box.

I'd call Tommie@EVS and tell him it wasn't included with your purchase last week.
that's a real bummer..... :undecided

If you bought a genuine USA unit, the book will be in the box. Every USA unit for the last six months has had it included. Which means that if it didn't come included in yours, you probably have a gray-market unit. Which, as galt is implying, means you won't get it, nor will you get the rebate or the battery or the AMQ tapes. Only genuine USA units qualify for those incentives.

If you bought from an authorized dealer, you should have gotten an authorized USA unit. If you didn't buy from an authorized dealer, you probably got a gray-market camera and are likely out of luck, unless your reseller will agree to take it back and substitute a genuine US unit.

A third option might be that you have an old stock unit, but that seems quite unlikely, as it would have to have been sitting on the shelves for over six months. You could always try PM'ing your serial number to Jan to see if you have an authorized US camera or not.
