As in the title the rear dial on my GH2 no longer works on P mode,i dont know if i have set anything differently as i cant find whats wrong, the dial works on the other settings.Strangely the auto focus on my GH2 has only started working previously when recording starts but that now works whether recording or not, this is a big concern as i dont realy know if my cam is faulty or not.Any help appreciated.

P is Program, it automatically adjusts both the iris and the shutter speed. in these situation, there is no need of the rear dial as everything is managed by the camera. If you click the wheel once, the light meter at the bottom of the screen will turn yellow. You will then be able to fine tune the Program setting.

For the Autofocus, there is a knob on the left like the poser button that selects M - AFC - AFS M=manual focus, AFC=Auto Focus Continuous it is always focusing, recording or not, AFS=Auto Focus Single, it only focuses once when you press halfway the shutter trigger.

There is no problem with your camera. I recommend having a deeper look at the manual, you may get some answers from it.

respectfully,

The dial does do something in P mode it changes the aperture and shutter speed relative to each other to keep the same autoexposure. Have you got a manual lens on your camera by any chance?

Yes, as I said: If you click the wheel once, the light meter at the bottom of the screen will turn yellow. You will then be able to fine tune the Program setting.

clicking the wheel once allows you do activate exposure compensation. Just merely spinning the wheel after at least one halfshutter press will allow you to keep exposure the same while moving shutter speed and aperture in opposite directions. 2 different functions, of which you only described one

Yes the dial does do something, when i have always used the dial in the 9 months i have had the GH2 in P mode pressing and turning the rear dial has has opened and shut the exposure it goes up and down up to 5 lines each way so if i was in P mode but the picture is under exposed as it can be the dial could be rotated to brighten the picture, this has suddenly stopped working and i only have the full set of micro four third lenses exept the 100-300.Another puzzling thing is AF on my camera AFC only ever started working when the camera started recording ie by starting recording focus would instantly start but if the camera was only monitoring there was no AF but now all of a sudden AFC works all the the time even when just monitoring very strange this how it should always work. Thanks for all the replys.

EDIT I have worked it out the EXPO settings must be set to SWITCH BY PRESSING THE REAR DIAL i must have reset it by mistake, but the rear dial does work and adjust exposure in P mode
