Here's some basics on the Firestore FS-4 HD and the Canon XLH1.

Firestore FS-4 Hd with Standard Battery(850mAh), and Enhanced Battery(1950mAh).

step #1 Turn on. Hit the On button and you will come to this screen.

step #2 scroll to the DV Format section. This will allow you to pick what file type you want your video saved as.

step #3 scroll to the HDD Mode and select HD for hd recording this will effect Step #2, or DV. DD-Drive is used when connecting to your computer.

RECORDING! (the manual way)

step #1 go to the main menu and hit record

step #2 once in recording mode, hit record again and your recording.

step #3 if you hit record again it will create a new file and start recording over again.

step #4 hit stop, and it will say (please wait) for a second and you will be back to the main menu.

Configure the XLH1 to save to the Firestore.

Start at the main screen.
hit menu.

go to SYSTEM

go to DV CONTROL

TURN ON DVZ

Exit Menu

you will now see the DVZ appear and initialize.

When its initalized it will show a green box.

How's the battery life and have you had any luck getting timecode that matches simultaneous HDV tape recordings?
