GH1 Really need some help please! Cpi files missing!

Hi,

I've been given some footage to edit, but the person filming it decided to just give me the mts files from a GH1. Nothing else that correlates to those files were included. So none of the file directory, the cpi files... NOTHING!

I've never had this before, so I'm totally lost as to what to do.

Please help... I have a deadline for for Friday :/

Use a program like Handbrake (on the Mac) to re-encode the MTS files into something else you can work with. I've done that with mine and it works fine. It's a slow process (took about an hour for a 650MB file for me), but you can adjust all the settings to get a really high-quality output. You can use a program like VLC to view the videos prior to re-encoding them if you want to make sure you're only re-encoding the ones that you're going to use. One warning, though: VLC sometimes screws up playback, making you think your footage is corrupt. To verify that it's not, just skip backward to the parts that looked corrupted and they'll probably play back fine the second time.

Hey, yeah I have some programs that I could convert with, but it will just take so damn long. I really want to just log and transfer. Guess I wont be leaving the house for the next days.

Thanks for the info :)

Without the original folder and file structure, FCP can't use MTS files, which is part of why I hate FCP. Yep, transcode in something else.

Yep, just spoke to the tard who shot it and he just dumped the mts files onto a disk. Turns out that he has been transcoding AME CS4 for the past year. I put him straight and told him that he's been wasting his life away...
