REAL cinema anamorphics on the 5d mark 2!

Hey,

I was wondering... how difficult is it to focus with these lenses?
I own now several anamorphic attachments like the Iscorama 36, the Kowa and some more... but all of them are difficult to focus.
What's the minimum distance for a 50mm Lomo?

thanks

Its fairly easy to focus as long has you have a large monitor with peaking. Charles Lim (deadfish) uses a smallHD I think because it has an anamorphic desqueeze and crop mode- kinda hard to focus though just looking at the back of the camera. Minimum focus is under 3 feet.

if you get tired of focusing, sell me one of them :)

Yep, pretty much all got bought out by people to use with their RED cameras. I'm going to hold onto my roundfront for dear life.

Do you guys have any idea about this one? it's a iscorama but it has no inscription and it's a 2x (where most are 1.5x). The Glass looks like it's in pristine shape so I was thinking of getting it but am unsure of how the 2x will respond vs the 1.5x for the image?

Also no idea if its multi or single coated, guessing single since the description says this was similar to the originals?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it just me, but I find both contrast and flare just **** with this lens system. Is bad picture quality and flare (which all the best lens makers have fought against with complicated coatings for hundred years already) now something to strive for?

Maybe you had a bad copy, I found the contrast fine. People love the flares, especially with music videos...over done for sure, but it looks good in certain situations.

Yeah, I have to confess that I really like the wider horizontal FOV but hate the flare - never understood why some folks are really into that.
Besides, software like MB Looks can do the same thing in post, but with much more control over the look, color and quality - if those anamorphic flares is what you want.
