Re: Nikon D4 - an ebay listing... legit?

Someone on ebay is claiming they received a lot of five Nikon D4's and is selling them off at $2450 each.

Here is their email to me:
"Well if you are interested to buy this camera YES the price is $2450.Now if you are ready to buy send me your full name , shipping address and eBay ID and I will set up in order our transaction trough eBay and they will contact you with all the details.Let me know if you decide to buy now cause I have other potential costumers waiting for my answer."

Does ebay even offer a service like this?

Listing ID: 151112563438.

They may have taken it down but if you go to "Report a listing" under customer service you can type in the ID and a cached thumbnail will come up.

UPDATE: SEPT 2, 7:35AM PST
Here is their most recent reply:

"Hello ,

Unfortunately I can't accept PayPal because I have a lot of money on hold.It can expand to 45 days to witdrawal the money and I can't afford to wait that much.If you're still interested we'll use eBay payment by direct bank transfer.Looking forward for your reply.

Thank you."

So sounds fishy right there with the direct bank transfer request.

The email is from "Victoria F. Hines <best.price221@gmail.com>;"

WOW, so "rsprinterparts" is supposedly "selling" a Nikon D4 under three different ebay listings but using the SAME serial number:

LISTING 1: 181218235606
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nikon-D4-16-...235606?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item2a3172d4d6

LISTING 2: 171128028312
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nikon-D4-16-...028312?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item27d8067c98

LISTING 3: 181218238242
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nikon-D4-16-...238242?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item2a3172df22

All have the serial number listed in the description as
"2040779".

Further proof that these listings are being generated by some automated web crawler designed to steal money from unsuspecting online shoppers of the film/photo professional community. Also all are listed well below market value and all of them want the buyer to contact the seller via a personal email rather than through ebay.

I got scammed for a D90 years ago on eBay - I had a refund from PayPal within a week. eBay's buyer protection is really good - if you stay within their ecosystem...

Another fraudulent posting:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nikon-D4-16-...515416?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item35cc0aa158

The images on the listing use the following server:

i.e. http://christensen123.com/usm.png and http://christensen123.com/2/94/1.jpg

Hacked ebay ID: allreruns

Notice how the hacker injects the "Camera & Photo" section into menu column of the hacked ebay ID? Visit this store again in an hour and guaranteed the "Camera & Photo" section will have disappeared as the hackers never stay in one hacked ID for long. They constantly ID-surf their way around ebay:
