Re: Lens Adapter - Crop Factor?

I might add, that I just got the Fotodiox one and attached the Canon 100mm macro and it works find imo. It fits very snuggly both in lens and camera mount. So if you can look past the dumb factor, then the price is nice.
Still waiting for the Kipon to arrive, just to test. But from what I've read, I'm not expecting much.

Is it because of the short flange distance? With a Canon EF to E-Mount adapter, it seems as if the flange distance between the Canon lens and the NEX-FS100's mount is larger in distance than if the lens were natively on my Canon T3i. I guess there is some give for the distance in order to eliminate additional crop factor? I wonder how the math works?

The "crop factor" is only and solely determined by the size of the sensor, and by nothing else.

The adapter's depth is a factor in determining proper focusing.

They should be the same (given the adapter is good) or the focus wouldn't work right. In my 7D, given the mirror assembly, the sensor is pretty far back. On my FS100, the sensor is REALLY close to the front.

Haha, I didn't see your post when I wrote that, it was actually to the post before yours asking about it! :) Of course, I just rounded off one extra digit :)
