Re: 5D Mark III vs D800

Re: 5D Mark III vs D800

Don't see a headphone jack listed in the rumoured spec list nor multiple crop factors.

Will this turn the tide for Nikon?

Looks like the new 5D may have RAW as a video format, according to the complete spec list at Canonrumors.
It is mentioned only in conjunction with other video formats, AVI, H.264 and Mpeg-2.

IF (and I don't see how, but) IF that were true then yes, I''d sell my MK2 the day they street and buy one.

I've never been good at keeping up with and distinguishing between codecs, so I'm always in favor of RAW.
Although, I do still suspect they meant RAW for photos. We'll know for certain in a short while.

I can't believe it doesn't shoot raw like the Red. Doesn't Canon know that I deserve to pay 1/5th the price of a red scarlet and get all the goods?

The problem I see for both of these cameras is no uncompressed 4 2 2 10 bit like the new panasonic hpx 250 and no 1080 60 p like my little 750.00$ panasonic tm 700

Does panasonic have an edge in processing on these guys ? Are they just trying not to cannibalize the upper end market or what ?

Well it depends. The Sony Nex-5n has 1080p60 but the encoding really breaks up on that thing with even a light grade. The 5d codec holds up way better.
