RC-4 for Video Start/ Stop. Setup?

Hello fine users of DVXuser,

I recently had a shoot where I mounted my t2i on a Super Clamp on a pipe about 15' up. It was shooting an overhead angle of a drummer. Basically, every 12 minutes I would climb up there, which took time and was quite annoying. I bought a cheap RCA monitor for framing and monitoring purposes, but I needed to figure out a way to start and stop remotely.

I read online I can use the RC-4 remote to start and stop video using the "2s" button, but alas, I have no success.. I read I have to change a menu option or something, but I cannot find that.. Any help or suggestions on how to remote start and stop video on the t2i?

This is my remote btw

The camera must be in Timer mode. If the camera goes to sleep, then you'll still need to wake it up first, so you'll probably have to turn off the power save mode.

Did you lose the manual for the camera? You can download it too. I know the manual for both my 7D and T3i covers it :)

Load the Magic Lantern firmware and enable the auto restart function - you don't have to change anything else - it just works !

Not so much interested in the photo mode as in video...

That _is_ the procedure for video mode.... it's in the manual.

In photo mode, the 2s button does exactly that, fires the shutter in 2 seconds. In video mode, the 2s button starts video instead. But in either case, you still need to put it in timer mode, because that's is what turns on the IR receiver.

Gottcha, sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for the help guys. I'll be checking it out..
