Probably should have done a LOT more reasearch before going with all 30P on this project but whatever.
Shot HDV 30P I believe this shot is 1/60th at F4
Easy setup of HDV1080/60i in FCP
Capture
Export via Compressor to QT at 1280x720 (not sure my qt settings are good yet... quality doesn't look quite as good, it got a bit soft)

LIGHTHOUSE CLIP - No corrections 30P / 13MB
(The Kilaeua Lighhouse. A very relaxing spot to hang out if you know where to go. Home to many endangered species. You can see Humpbacks, Monk Seals, Albatross, and NeNe here; all on the same day if you are lucky.)

TIME LAPSE HANALEI VALLEY - 15minutes or so to about 10 seconds. 30P / 10MB download

BEST STAND UP SPONGE RIDE EVER - Short Clip - SUPER High Quality 1280x720 30P / 36MB download
(definition: "stand up sponge" - When you stand up and effectively "surf" on a body board or as it's known by most a "boogie board". This is one of the most difficult things to do in the world believe it or not.)

Its gonna take a LONG time to capture all this footage and actually start to make something with it. Due to financial, time, and weather related issues, the project will not be finished until after at least one more trip to the islands. Most likely it will take two more trips and a serious investment on a housing. BUT, we have some GREAT stuff that is extraordinarily rare which equals a strong start. I'm hoping to start putting together a marketing package to pursue funds to complete the project.

I hope you enjoy the small sample clips.

Aloha...

I shot a whole film in 30p with out a problem. You can mix and match even but most would suggest that you don't. I usually don't plan to go to film so I can do anything I chose.

That was a great shot, my friend. Yeah... seemed a tad noisy compared to other clips I've seen (possibly due to your compression), but the composition was excellent.

Take a snapshot of that footage, and you're selling postards ;)

Seriously you guys... I finally took the time to capture my first tape (which I KNOW is nowhere good as the rest as I was still learning the camera)

I've got some stuff that made me wonder how I got it. I can't wait to capture everything and start editing. I will post some more stuff shortly.

I have a short time lapse coming that's just insane.
