RARE! VINTAGE 1919 ROSS TELECENTRIC 9in. f/6.8 Lens

This classic 9 inch Telecentric lens was made by Ross of London for a motion picture camera of the day.
I'm not familiar with the lens mount or which camera it was designed for.

It is in very good condition (especially considering it's 100 years old) and has been kept safely with front and rear caps in it's flannel pouch since I received it. The serial number is: 88634 indicating a 1919 manufacture date.
The diaphragm and focus work smoothly and the diaphragm itself is clean with no oil or dirt visible on the blades. The glass appears to be scratch free with no visible haze. The threaded lens hood is removable.

This was given to me by old friend and master cinematographer Paul Ivano shortly before his passing in 1984. Paul said he used this lens back in the late 1920s & 1930s into the '40s (he was one of the first contract cinematographers at Universal in 1921).

He owned several motion picture cameras during his career, including an Akeley and Wall, but never mentioned which camera this one was made for. I first thought "Mitchell", but that mount has 4 flanges, not three. Still a mystery to me...maybe one of you cinema history buffs can identify it.

Since these lenses were made to cover the 35mm "full aperture" frame, it could likely be re-mounted for modern video cameras with a Super 35 chip for a true vintage look.
In the interest of full disclosure, the mount is part of the rear focusing tube and would have to be cut off and threaded for a new mount.

Anyway, it's a classic piece of cinema history ready for a new life in the digital age.

$300 including US shipping.
