Rap Video in Progress

That's DVX100A, stock lens, all handheld or pod. I haven't even CC'd anything yet, that's all straight camera footage.

On your final I would make the cuts faster and take out some of the handheld that is a little shaky

just a quick question.... how much you charging for these rap vids?

I have a buddy who runs/owns a recording studio (many rap dudes as clients) and he has been giving them my info (to shoot hot music vids) but I dont know a good jump off point for price? I was thinking 600 shoot 600 edit no?

rap vids (at least IMO) wouldnt be that hard.... many of the rap dudes dont want you to re-invent the wheel, they just want something like they see on mtv/bet right?

just a few questions... thanx broseph

That was my thinking exactly, but around here I can only get them to pay me in cocaine.

I think its coming along pretty well.

- The long handheld shot where you rotate around him is pretty shaky. Like really shaky. Its pretty distracting considering the song is kinda smooth.

- Having a set sort of pattern for the choruses makes would make the video feel more cohesive. Like have certain parts always him rapping and certain parts all cutaway stuff. You can mix it up but you can get lost without some sort of method to the montage.

2cents. Coke isn't as good as money.

I agree with escozooz. The handheld stuff is distracting and just doesn't fit with the mood of the song. Not a fan of the zooms either... a little cheesy for me.

Well edited though, and footage looks great for just out of camera.

looks good Z nice images and no CC correct ? did u use any lighting or reflectors ???? and what was your settings on the dvx ???

peace n luv

Great colors for no CC and some nice little pop-zooms, the focus stuff was cool too. But I agree that the edit as a whole didn't seem to have a cohesive tone. My advice would be to try and make the music motivate your cuts, i.e. cut according to beat or lyrics. My personal first preference is beat because I rarely listen to the lyrics until I've heard it a few times (besides the hook). It's also nice if you can make the action in the footage (camera or subject action) match the music.
