ok, rant:

why oh why do i have to pay 17.140.- dollars here in austria fo the f3L...
really, about 4000..- dollars more than at BHPhotovideo...
hello? Sony? every single manufacturer i'm currently considering buying stuff from takes exchange rates into account: atomos, sounddevices, blackmagic-design, heck even apple...
it's just ridiculous.
4000dollars for a year more warranty.

and for the fs-100: 6.350,- dollars

really really disappointing....

Mate,
i am with You...
Just do what i have done-spend that money on AIRasia or JETstar to SINGAPORE and buy it there cheap and have holiday same time.

The F3L has the primes included. the F3 with primes inthe US is about $16,000 only about $1000 more considering taxes etc...

f3k is the one with the lenses (k= KIT), I bought the f3k for $18,900 - then sold the lenses. F3L is body only, even though L seems like it should mean "lens".
A friend in singapore told me he is having the same problem, f3 body is way way more expensive than in US.

have a buddy in the states buy it for you and mail it to you on a boat. will take 3 months for you to get it, but it will work... :)

Afriend of mine from europe is thinking in get a flight travel to USA as for buy the F3 without lens, and then come back within the camcorder in the flight.

What street local shops are in the USA with the F3 in stock for 13300$ or less that will be able to sell and help my friend with ?

Cause in europe the F3 without lens is around 16000eur, so +22000$

Hi all,

mailed the sony rep in Austria, but no reply... wonder why ;-)
it's really sad that they don't adjust their prices. i know a lot of pros buying in the US instead of here.
its simply a rip off to my understanding, and it's not the resellers fault i guess, but a sony directive...

still makes me think that there would be room for another camera at a price point between fs100 and f3...
maybe next year..?

for 9.500euros i'd buy the f3 right away, but not for 12.000.-
in fact i'd consider a fs100 as a bridge to the "mystical" Epic-S ....
well, have to wait and see what happens when the camera is widely available.

as i said, just wanted to rant...;-)
and say thanx for the invaluable resource of info dvxuser is...

@tony
i am talking prices excl. VAT, so if you bring the f3 to europe you'd have to declare customs and ad the various VAT's plus additional 5% of importing fee (at least i think it's 5% for camera equip)- but as you know if you're a
company you can deduct the VAT immediately - not so the hobbyist ;-(

As a company i know, but even a person -not company- can buy the product, fit in some bag lets say within clothes, and back to europe avoiding taxes and duties.

Am I wrong ?
