Ramjet Films Presents..... "Remember When"

I'm trying, man. I just had a major kink today in some stuff I have to get done, and that's going to impact my ability to get some things to Herman that he needs to do all he wants. He should be able to do the score at the very least though.

If it doesn't work out, the film is otherwise finished, so I'll submit it as is. Made a few changes to the edit last week, and I'm calling it locked, so.... we'll see what I can add between now and the deadline.

Ok.... I'm not going to make it guys.... sorry....






Just kidding. I'm almost done. Slight change in plans though... I re-shot a couple of shots today and recorded some sound bed and put that into the edit. I have one more thing to shoot (which'll take about 5 minutes), and I'm going to do that this evening.

The change is that I've decided (after much deliberation) to go with no further score on the piece. I have an original song by my actress that is in there a bit, and was originally going to have Herman complete it with a score of his own, but decided that it was just counter to the overall vibe I felt for the piece. I had a few people independently suggest this as well, so that put the nail in the coffin on that one.

I expected Herman to shoot me, since he had already been working on the score to some extent, but he did not :) He is still going to handle the sound design for the film, and as soon as I re-shoot the one shot and drop it in place, I'll be doing a render of the film and the audio for Herman, and sending it off to him for his handy work. As soon as I get sound back from him, this puppy will be done....

Man, I really am trying to come down to the wire on this thing, considering it was almost finished back in December :evil:

Anyways, that's the update. Hopefully the next one will be that the film is completed for festival purposes in the next couple of days.

Glad to hear you're still in the running Jason. You and I are at about the same place in the program right now, though I think you are ahead on the music end.

ehem....

Just finished listening to a draft of the sound design from Herman.... Sent him notes on two things.

Other than that, the mix is sounding real nice. It's quite a bit richer than before, and the stereo effects he added (particularly with the background ambient noise) is a really nice touch. Hearing a car in the background go from one ear to another is very nice.

Almost finished. The opening scene needs a different direction I felt for the sound design, and that's about it.

Herman is the man.

i love sound design, opens up a whole new way to inform the viewer. ideally, i'd spend a week on mine but no time for that.

Awesome! Herman is great. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with for all the movies he's scoring. The man is a machine!
 
Ok. Finished my first film! Woo hoo!

Uploading a 49.1 meg 720p file right now. I sacrificed a bit of sharpness for a 25% larger frame size... fair trade I think, and it still looks very good on my monitor, so hopefully the same for everyone elses :)

Just want to add my gratitude and sincere thanks to the folks who gave me feedback and suggestions along the way. I'm extremely grateful to you, and I've learned a lot from this process already.

Best of luck to everyone entering the fest. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's films and responding to them, and looking forward to your honest responses as well.
