Raise iso in camera or adjust Mids in Post?

I have this question and wanting to know what people think. Would you rather shoot at iso 640 and adjust a stop or two in post or just shoot at 1250 iso and not have to adjust in post?

This is obviously done in situations like clubs and other run and guns where you cannot use lighting...

Thoughts?

in my case, out of my very limited experience, this is what I do:
* if I'm worried about clipping highlights (e.g. night shot, street lights in frame, I want to keep some detail in them) then raising ISO is not an option
* if that's not a problem, I raise ISO, because I think it leads to less noise; I've ran some tests (nothing too formal, might do that soon as part of the checks with my flaat picture styles) and found there's s a difference, but it's a small one: the main factor determining how much noise you get in your footage is not ISO, but how much light is hitting your sensor

fixed pattern noise is the main thing here. some cameras (like 5dmk2) can bring it out real easy, thus gaining ASA up to about 1600 is better than boosting in post. personally i see a lot of FPN on all the current-gen canon DSLR's, and I would stick between 100-800 on the aps-c models, possibly tad higher on 7D. I've ruined some footage going high & looking good on the LCD, but FPN visible in the material.
