Working as a photojournalist, many times we have to set it and forget it. I have no clue what the remote capabilities are for recording and pausing, but I'd like to see the option for a remote in jack to plug something like a PocketWizard in, so that the user can record and pause from far distances.
Is there any interest in this at all for the AG-HVX200? Or am I asking for too much? I wrote to Panasonic asking about this as a possibility. They spin this as a great camera for field work, and that's where I'm looking to shoot. I was asked by my boss to shoot video for web content as our paper tries to push more web content towards our readers.
This puppy is what I've asked for; a camera that shoots solid state, no tape... but sometimes we have to clamp a camera somewhere and remotely shoot. The PocketWizards are great; they trip flash or camera from distances of a football field and more. I've been known to sit in the outfield bleacher seats and shoot home plate plays, and my transmitter will trigger a remote camera sitting at the backstop.
The only thing I'd be concerned, if this ever gets consideration, is whether there can be some kind of visual flash or lamp blink that you can tell that the camera is recording from long distances. Anyway, hope to get input.
