Quicktime washed out colors?

So the workflow is this: capture m2t files, convert with cineform, edit the Cineform avi`s and then I exported with quicktime to a variety of presets (HDTV1080p, 720p, 1024Kb source to download etc...) and my brightness jumps up, it desaturates, the color really loses it`s vibrancy. I have seen this as something happening to a lot of people. How do you solve it?

Anyway, i found the solution:). so if anyone is having the same problem hope this helps :

After you create the QuickTime/h.264 file, open it up in QuickTime and select "Show Movie Properties." Highlight the video track then click on the "Visual Settings" tab. Towards the bottom left you should see "Transparency" with a drop-down box next to it. Select "Blend" from the menu then move the "Transparency Level" slider to 100%. Right after that, choose "Straight Alpha" from the same drop-down and close the properties window. AND finally, "Save."

wow, i just had the same problem and i magically stepped into this thread. what a lifesaver! thanks :)

by the way, mirko fights tomorrow. woohoo!

hm...this does not work for me. i still have the stupid h.264 gamma bug.
it only works if i change the settings to "composition" but then the video plays very slow because i think the playback is not hardware accelerated anymore (?!).

it helped a little, but the quality is still not as good as the original clip. oh well though.

i guess quicktime pro h. 264 is still the best way to go for streaming videos online, is that correct? even though it desaturates and lowers the gamma?

Apple has FINALLY patched this gamma bug with QT 7.2 and later. There's a Quicktime setting that you need to adjust in order to for the H.264 to appear "as it should." In Quicktime Pro Prefernces, the last radio button in the General Pane needs to be checked "Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility." Thus you don't need to mess with the transparency settings . . .

hmm... this setting is only available if you have installed final cut pro6, right?!
