Quicktime PN x P2 PN - Firestore mode

Anyone knows about the difference?
Cause it's really more easy to work in FCP with the Quicktime PN mode, because you don't need to organize, and don't need to import to FCP, just copy the files.
BUT... what the real difference? I lose some quality or native frames?

Thank you.

David...
what does it mean? active frames..??

something that i noticed, that the QT PN you canot use PN VFR , it will always make the VFR over 60p , and i need to remove the redundant frames in DVCPROHD VFR converter...

but if shoot 24QTPN or 30QTPN , it comes as N....no redundant frames.

i always work with QT clips on my FS100

By "active" frames, they mean there's no pulldown and no duplicate frames (like has had to be the case with DV and DVCPRO-HD). Another way to say it might be "native frames".

Well, then I think it's the same, right? My final result usign quicktime is the same, but I'll ever stay with that feeling that the Native P2 is better... lol.
I captured some p2 pn files yesterday by the first time, and it's preety fast to encode on FCP. I think I'll use this format instead of quicktime.

Quicktime Native for Final Cut is the best way to go, there is no reason to use P2
Native. I have used QT with my Sony DSR-450WS DVCAM camera/nNovia HDD since 2006 and with my HDX900 camera/FireStore for a year. My editors prefer it and the quality is great. You've got to have Final Cut Studio for QT Native.

I understand what Dino saying, but one point further.

If you shoot only QT pN, then those files make more difficult to be shared cross platform if that need arises.

Dino, but it's the best format because of the convenience or is there some technical issues about it? Quality, conversion problems, etc?

It's convenience. Quicktime is Apple's codec, it plays well with Final Cut. There is no downside to using Quicktime files with Final Cut as long as you are finishing with Final Cut. There is no technical benefit for using P2 Native over Quicktime Native for Final Cut Studio that I'm aware of.

i always used QTPN since i took the camera out the box.

'cause my workflow is a hvx+fs100+macbook pro...
and i always cut my footage on my mcbook.
