Quicktime files compatability with mxf

Due to problems with one of our FS-100 units, we are going to be forced to do some recording straight into FCP on our shoot and the rest on our working FS-100. All of our 1080 30p footage on the FS-100 is being recorded as .mxf files. FCP captures as quicktime.mov files. Are there any differences in the quality of the footage? Are we going to have any problems once we get to edit? Are there any drawbacks from being forced to do this?

No quality difference, only the "wrapper" is changed, not the video content. You shouldn't have any problems. Be sure both FS-100 is up to version 3.0, and FCP is up to version 5.1.3, and you'll be a happy camper! The 3.0 version of the FS-100 firmware will allow you to record QuickTime, so you just copy the clips to your media drive and edit, bypassing the P2 Import window altogether.
