Quicktime 7 pro????

Hi everyone, I bought quicktime pro and installed it ok but I'm having a hard time exporting movies. I saw a thread here with all the instructions on how to export but all I end up with after exporting the movie is a small kb size file that's not viewable. It starts off by initializing and then exporting and the whole process lasts no more than 25 seconds to export a movie which just seems unreal. I import .avi files prepared by vegas and I'm using both win xp and vista. What could I probably be doing wrong??
Thanks in advance!

you've probably got 'save as reference movie' clicked, rather than 'save as self-contained movie'

This also means you're using the 'Save As' dialogue, rather than the Export dialogue.
Export gives you more options.

Electricpig, I have save as self-contained movie CHECKED and I always use the export option not the save as. I still dunno why this is happening, searched the net for possible causes but can't find anything anywhere. HELP PLEASE!!

Ahhh, windows quicktime...

Now that's a different kettle of fish all together.

Sorry. can't help you there.

you're really using the wrong app, unless you are trying to make MOV files. if you already have an AVI, what format are you trying to get to? you might just try Windows Movie Maker for file conversion.

Yes I'm trying to convert .avi and .wmv files to mov files for streaming on the net. There's quicktime for windows but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure several members here use quicktime for compression with windows. Dick and electricpig thanks for trying.

If you are on a Windows machine I *think* you will find that the windows media files are going to be superior to quicktime in overall appearance . . . test and see what you think.

I am unfamiliar with Vegas -- are you not able to export to quicktime (with it)?

I had an issue with QT Pro which was resolved in this way-

Make sure you are not exporting to the root drive. In other words, don't export just to C: or D: or whatever - make sure you setup a folder on the drive, then export to that folder.

That resolved my export issues. Maybe, that will work for you too?

Best of luck.
