Quick Tokina lens question

It's my understanding that a lens like the Duclos 11-16 PL mount will NOT have the same view as taking a Nikon 11-16 and putting it on a Opti or MTF mount.

I stand corrected...my above statement is NOT true. They are the same.

Duke,

I am still debating adding a 17-35 which you seem to like, or instead get a 14-24. I already have the 24-70 and the 70-200. Any advice would be appreciated. My Prolock is on the way. Thanks!

You put this in the wrong thread so I moved it.

What lens is right for you depends on what and how you shoot. If you need wider and 17mm isn't wide enough for you then that will answer your question (or get a Tokina 11-16mm) Myself, I dislike barrel distortion. I also want some DOF control. 35mm gives a lot more DOF control than 24mm. But you may be shooting completely different subjects than me. The 17-35mm fits a great niche for me, and its an extremely high quality lens. YMMV.

I also think the overlap in lens lengths is a good thing. Less lens changes that way.

Hi there. I already have two Carl Zeiss CP.2 lenses, an 50mm and a 85mm for my F3. I also have a Tokina 11-16mm sitting around on my shelf. Are those of you who are using it with the MTF adaptor happy with the quality of the picture from the Tokina? From my research I have gathered it's best to use it at the 16mm end oppossed to the 11mm end, due to less distortion etc. If the reports were positive, this would do me to cover the WA range. Thanks in advance, Sparky.

Sparky, I just finished shooting with the Tokina 16-50 using MTF and shot some complete wides if your interested to see samples. Have a look here

My one bit of great news is that when you use the Prolock to control a lens with an aperture ring, like the Nikkor 17-35mm, 28-70mm or 70-200mm its like using a declicked lens. Smooth all the way through.
