Quick HDV question

So I imported footage into HDV 1080i FCP sequence and I'm having audio sync problems.

When I import the footage into a sequence by transcoding to AIC, I have no sync problems. Is this because my computer can't handle HDV native?

I'm in a duocore G5 2.0ghz with 1.0 gigs of RAM. Maybe with another gig of RAM? Maybe not? :)

Did you actually *shoot* 60i HDV? If it's 24F footage obviously you need to work in the 1080 24p HDV setup.

Your computer should be fast enough.

Sorry, I should have pointed out that I shot it with the HV10, so it *should* just be 1080 60i, correct?

The thing that baffles me is that the clips are in sync when I look at them in the Capture Scratch, and they're out of sync by a good 7 or 8 frames when I put them into Final Cut Pro.

They're also in sync when I render them into a new sequence with AIC.

Elton, don't laugh, but I just discovered my G5 actually only has 512 megs of RAM, which, I'm now certain, is the cause of my problem.

Oh dear, 512 MB of RAM is so 1999. I'm very embarrassed.

sometimes this happens to me as well. I dont know what causes it, all i know is when i render its in sync. Funny thing is it only happens for part of a project.

I would think that a low amount of ram like that could result in sync problems. Final Cut wants all the memory you can possibly give it.

I think a good rule of thumb is a minimum of 1 GB for the latest FCP, especially when editing HDV.
