Quick Comedy Short

okay i know its been awhile, but i have a question on this. This was the first project i used with 24p and the movement looks awful. if you go to about 2/3rds of the way through when the kid on the right stands up from the rail, and then when his fake body flies through the air, the movement is extremely blurry and bad looking. i was just wondering if this was what quick movement from 24p looked like, or if i must have captured or exported something wrong. when i was editing in FCP it all had big horizontal lines going through the whole video, but when i exported they were gone, so i figured i had settings wrong somewhere?

Big horizontal lines? Like, interlacing lines? When editing/exporting for the web, make sure you add a deinterlacing filter to all your footage.
Some of your footage is still interlaced (check out the hand):

The way you exported this, FCP is blending 1 out of every 4 frames with the next. Not sure how to fix this...

One last thing -- when doing the garbage matte technique to composite two images (the car coming towards the guy), make sure you put everything on manual. Focus, iris, etc. Your first shot was focused on the guy and your second shot was focused farther away.

I actually used the same technique (with Shake, though) on my last video.
Please excuse its crudity... it was my friend's first time with a camera and I only spent like 2 hours shooting and editing it.

Use 24pA and that won't happen so much. The motion was actual great. That was absolutely hilarious.

What compression did you use? and how was it setup?

thanks for the help. it was shot on 24pa though. and in the timeline where i had the horizontal lines, they werent interlacing lines, they were much much thicker than that and slowed the video down a little. also the camera was on manual focus, and the camera wasnt touched between ther person waving and the car driving by.

also, why would final cut blend 1 out of every 4 frames? i dont change settings other than 24pa and stretch mode in anything i do so is this an automatic setting, or how would this have been selected?
